What Does Acupuncture Feel Like?

Acupuncture needles are exceptionally fine…much finer than the needles used for injections or blood tests. 

When a needle is inserted, you may feel very little, or you may notice a gentle fizzing, tingling sensation or a mild, dull ache. Everyone experiences acupuncture differently, but many patients find the treatment surprisingly relaxing and often comment on how calm and comfortable they feel during their session.

All acupuncture needles are sterile, individually packaged and used only once. They are disposed of immediately after use in a designated clinical waste container, ensuring the highest standards of hygiene and safety.

If you feel anxious about needles, please don't worry. Your comfort is important, and there are alternatives available. Acupressure can be used instead of needles, or exceptionally fine needles can be used where appropriate. Your treatment will always be adapted to your individual needs and comfort level.
