Counselling and Psychotherapy
I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, understood and supported. Together, we can explore the difficulties you may be experiencing, helping you to make sense of your feelings, gain greater understanding, insight and perspective, and find a way forward that feels right for you.
My approach is integrative, combining psychotherapeutic counselling approaches, including CBT, psychodynamic and person-centred therapy, with somatic and trauma-informed practices. I am particularly interested in the relationship between our emotional and physical experiences, and how stress, anxiety, trauma and difficult life experiences can be held not only in our thoughts and emotions, but also in our bodies. I believe that understanding this mind-body connection can be an important part of the therapeutic process, helping clients develop greater self-awareness, reconnect with themselves and work towards lasting emotional and physical well-being.
At the heart of my work is a belief in the importance of the therapeutic relationship. I aim to create a warm, safe and supportive space where you feel genuinely listened to, accepted and able to express yourself freely, without fear of judgement.
Alongside my counselling training, I have completed further professional training in Integrated Somatic Trauma Awareness, Somatic EMDR and Hypnotherapy. I draw on these approaches according to your individual needs, allowing therapy to be tailored to you rather than expecting you to fit into a particular model.
I also bring many years of experience as an acupuncturist and yoga teacher, which has deepened my understanding of the connection between body and mind. This experience informs my psychotherapeutic work, while counselling and psychotherapy remain a distinct part of my practice.
I work collaboratively and at a pace that feels manageable for you. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, stress, emotional overwhelm, the effects of trauma, relationship difficulties, or simply feel that something in your life needs to change, therapy can provide a space to pause, make sense of your experiences and reconnect with yourself.
My aim is to create a safe and supportive space in which you can develop a deeper understanding of yourself and find new ways of moving forward.
Combining Acupuncture and Psychotherapy -
An integrative approach to emotional and physical wellbeing, bringing together counselling, acupuncture and body-based therapies to support the connection between mind and body.
Where appropriate, and where this feels helpful to you, there may also be an opportunity to integrate acupuncture alongside psychotherapy. Drawing on my experience as a practising acupuncturist, I can offer a body-based and talking therapy approach to supporting experiences such as anxiety, stress, trauma, and emotional tension. This allows us to address some of the physical ways in which emotional experiences can manifest in the body, for example, muscular tension, headaches, disrupted sleep or digestive discomfort.
This integrated approach recognises that our emotional and physical experiences are often closely interconnected/intertwined. Acupuncture can provide an additional space/modality for relaxation, relief of physical symptoms, and bodily awareness, complementing the therapeutic process and supporting a deeper sense of balance and connection between body and mind. It can also support the integration of the work we do together in counselling, which can sometimes bring forward feelings, memories and experiences that need time and space to be explored and understood., which may draw on our energy reserves. These approaches can help us to gently settle and process experiences, memories and bodily sensations that may arise during therapy, allowing space for reflection and restoration.
